Environment Management Systems : SLRM is certified to ISO 14001:2015
Energy Management : SLR Metaliks Ltd (SLRM), is an alloy & super special steel manufacturing company located near Hosapete in Karnataka India. The plant is having a capacity to manufacture 0.32 MTPA of steel confirming to various international standards. As a result of choosing Energy Optimizing Furnace (EOF) for manufacturing of basic steel, SLRM has reduced its energy requirement drastically irrespective of the type of electric energy that is being used.
SLRM is happy & take pleasure in mentioning that it is decreasing its dependency on conventional power and increasing consumption of Renewable Energy (RE) on continual basis. During FY 2021-22, SLRM has consumed nearly 60% of its total power imports from RE sources. Going forward, during FY 2022-23, SLRM has consumed nearly 80% of its total power import
SLRM takes pleasure in mentioning that, under group captive system, during FY 2018-19, it has invested in Wind mill of 19.8 MW and getting the power of nearly 17% of its total imports. Similarly, SLRM has invested in Solar plant of 30 MWp which was commissioned during July 2022 and is sourcing nearly 27% of its imports from this project which is located near Karatagi in the Dist of Koppal in Karnataka. Further, SLRM has invested in one more Solar plant of 27 MWp which was commissioned during Sept 2022 and it is supplying nearly 20% of energy imports. This project of 27 MWp is located at Gangavati taluka of Dist Koppal. Further, SLRM is investing in one more RE project of 23.76 MWp capacity located at Pavagada (Karnataka) which is expected to get commissioned by April 2024.
Once the Pavagada project is made operational, SLRM would be using Green Renewable Energy to the extent of nearly 90% of its total power imports. SLRM endeavors to maximize the utilization of RE power & minimize the conventional power on continual basis.
In addition, SLRM is producing its own power using the Blast Furnace waste gas (Co generation) which is contributing to the extent of nearly 15% of its total energy requirement. SLRM assures itself that it will be in the forefront & wish to become an example in making GREEN STEEL at all the times.
SLR Metaliks Ltd has invested & has agreement with M/s Ecoren Energy Pvt Ltd (Prathijna Sustainable Solutions P Ltd) for Importing of Wind power
Ecoren Wind Power Project is stretched across 120 acres of land at Muller village of Sindhanur taluk, Dist: Raichur. It is a hybrid type of project consisting of 20 MW wind power. The Wind Power Plant consisting of 9 wind turbines (Vestas Make) of capacity of 2.2 MW each. Each Unit is looped, and connected to the GRID through 110 KV line.
SLR Metaliks Ltd has an agreement for importing 21.25 Lac units (kWh) of power every month (average) which will be 25.5 million units annually under Group Captive Model. The plant is operational since Sept 2018.
SLR Metaliks Ltd has invested & has agreement with two SPVs namely, M/s Radiance KA Sunshine One Pvt. Ltd. and M/s Radiance KA Sunshine Two Pvt. Ltd. for Importing Solar power.
M/s Radiance has a solar park at Bennur village, Karatagi taluka of Koppal dist with a total capacity of 75 MWp spread over an area of 200 acres. Out of 75MWp, 30 MWp is under exclusive agreement with SLRM bifurcated in to two SPVs of 15 MWp each. SLR Metaliks Ltd has an agreement for importing a total of 33.5 Lac units (kWh) of power every month (average) from both the SPVs, which will be nearly 40 million units annually under Group Captive Model. The plant is in operation since July 2022.
SLR Metaliks Ltd has invested & has agreement with M/s Green Infra Solar Power Projects Ltd. for Importing Solar power. GISPPL is a subsidiary of M/s Sembcorp of Singapore.
M/s Green Infra has a solar park at Venkatagiri village, Gangavati taluka of Koppal dist. The total solar park is of 60MWp capacity, out of which SLRM is having exclusive arrangement for 27 MWp.
SLR Metaliks Ltd has an agreement for importing a total of 25.7 Lac units (kWh) of power every month (average), which will be nearly 31 million units annually under Group Captive Model. The plant is in operation since Sept 2022.
SLR Metaliks Ltd is investing & has entered in to one more agreement with M/s Green Infra Solar Power Projects Ltd. for Importing Solar power.
M/s Green Infra has a solar park at Pavagada taluka of Tumakur dist. The total solar park is of 250 MWp capacity coupled with 50MW wind power. The project is under construction stage. Out of 250 MWp solar park, SLRM is having exclusive arrangement for 23.76 MWp.
SLR Metaliks Ltd has an agreement for importing a total of 31.6 Lac units (kWh) of power every month (average), which will be nearly 38 million units annually under Group Captive Model. The plant is expected to get commissioned during Dec 2023.
Emission Management : SLRM is measuring all the scope -1, scope-2 and scope-3 emissions. Working towards reductions in CO2eq emission and carbon neutrality. Also taken targets to reduce the CO2 (eq) emission to zero from the scope 2 emissions.
SLRM has provided adequate Air pollution control equipment for all its emission sources. 7 Major chimneys are installed with CEMS (Continuous emission monitoring system) and 1 AAQM station is installed and connected CPSCB and SPCB’s in real-time.
Water Management : M/s. SLR Metaliks Ltd has implemented various measures to optimize water usage. The heightened focus on water recirculation across all process units has significantly reduced specific water consumption, achieving a reduction of more than 5.68% over FY 2020-2021. Vigilant monitoring of water losses, recycling cooling water from Mini Blast Furnace, Sinter Plant, Power Plant, Steel Melting Shop, and Rolling Mill Shop, along with the treatment of wastewater from various drains, has contributed to this notable reduction.
The operations of SLR Metaliks Ltd are inherently reliant on water availability, rendering it a critical concern for the company. Recognizing the risks associated with water scarcity, SLR is actively engaged in initiatives for water conservation and the continual reduction of water consumption throughout its operations.
SLR Metaliks is committed to minimizing water usage not only within its operations but also throughout the entire value chain. This commitment involves the adoption of technologies aimed at reducing water consumption and implementing water recycling activities.
>SPECIFIC WATER CONSUMPTION Cum./Mt. (FOR ROLLED STEEL LONG PRODUCTION)
Waste Management : SLRM has adopted zero land fill concept, hence scientific mode of segregation & storage of wastes is adopted. Now these waste have become a useful /by products. All the wastes generated are sold to buyers. Nothing is sent to land fill.
